August Blueprint Deep Dive: Your Complete-ish Guide to Leo Season
What's coming in August, a deep-dive into the Sun, Leo, and the 5th House + an Akashic ritual to help you integrate all this fiery energy
August is a busy month (although which one isn’t?) in the sky and it’s opening a LOT of doors for us, figuratively and maybe literally, too.
This month’s deep dive will be an overview of what’s coming up and I’ll go more in depth into the archetypes of Leo, the Sun, and the 5th house, because I’m still a new astrologer and I’m learning all of this stuff right along with you.
Each week this month I’ll go more in depth on each transit so you can follow along as the energy arises and paid subscribers will get somatic practices, integration rituals, and Akashic Records meditation mantras so you can fully immerse yourself and use the energy to evolve rather than let it happen to you.
And because this deep dive concept is new, the format is also coming together. My first-house Saturn hates not having a solid structure in place yet — it feels really weird to be in this vague, figuring-it-out space, but Jupiter in Leo trining my natal Jupiter in Aries says it’s ok. Also Neptune in Aries conjunct my north node is like, “go for it, girl.”
Also I’ve been inspired by Shelby I Cosmic Curriculum to just write from the heart (go read her stuff, seriously) and I think that’s exactly what we all need right now.
So here we go.
WTF is going on in August?
Major transit dates:
♌️ Leo season — July 22 - August 22
These dates shift slightly year to year.
🦁 Lion’s Gate Portal — July 28 - August 12, peak 8/8
Literally everyone is talking about this right now, so I’ll do a piece on it next week; look for that around Thursday, 8/6. Not to say it’s not important! But it’s like, trendy astrology, you know? Also I have an announcement to share so I’ll throw that in that post, too.
🌑 New moon in Leo / solar eclipse — August 12
This is where it gets juicy imho because it comes right after the 8/8 portal and new moons are all about planting seeds of intention. This post will come out Monday 8/10 along with a movement practice that I love and haven’t taught in a while so stay tuned for that.
♍️ Mercury cazimi in Virgo — August 27
We love a cazimi and yes, they are trendy too, but like, so fun. I love a glow-up for a planet. This post will come out Monday, 8/17 alongside the live Q&A where you can bring your questions about your chart, the Akashic Records, Human Design, yoga, somatic practices, or anything else your heart desires.
🌕 Full moon in Pisces / lunar eclipse August 28
As a Pisces moon I’m not sure if I’m excited for this or dreading it lol but I’m sure it’ll be fine. This post will be memoir style and will come out Monday, 8/24.
Btw if you want a personalized natal chart reading so you can more deeply understand your whole chart, you can book a private reading with me here.

The Blueprint Deep Dive: The Sun, Leo, & the Fifth House
Let’s start at the beginning.
The planets in astrology represent the motivations, actions, and desires that we take and experience in life. Though the Sun is not technically a planet, it is considered one in this paradigm.
The Sun
It represents consciousness, identity, and your soul’s expression of purpose.
The glyph (symbol that represents it) is a dot within a circle, which is also likened to a cell and its nucleus.
The Sun is the center of our solar system (duh) and gives life by providing warmth, light, and vitality.
As the center of our micro-universe, it serves as the center of our selves, as well.
Your Sun sign is you, who you are and how your soul chose to express.
It’s your style of leadership, creativity, authority, and success.
The shadow of the Sun is selfishness, insensitivity, vanity, and inflexibility.
It takes the Sun about 30 days to move through each sign and it’s considered a luminary, as opposed to a traditional planet such as Mercury.
The Sun is at home in Leo and rules that sign. A planet being at “home” in a sign means that there is a lot of overlap in meaning between the planet and the home sign, but they are not the same.
The Sun is exalted in the sign of Aries, which means it feels extra special and bougie in that sign.
It’s in its detriment in Aquarius which means it’s not super comfortable there.
And it’s at its fall in Libra, which means it’s the most uncomfortable in that sign.
For example, my Sun is in Sagittarius in the first house (in whole signs) which means my soul expresses itself through adventure, curiosity, and wanting to understand myself through lived experience.
What’s your Sun sign?
The Sign of Leo
The astrological signs represent evolutionary goals that express themselves through four elements, three modalities, and duality.
The elements are fire, water, air, and earth.
The modalities are cardinal, fixed, and mutable. Cardinal means it initiates and comes at the beginning of a season. Fixed means it brings consistency and resists change and comes in the middle of a season. Mutable means it changes frequently and comes at the end of a season.
Duality means masculine/yang or feminine/yin.
Leo is fire, fixed, and masculine. It comes in the middle of summer; it’s what you think of when someone brings up the concept of summer (in the northern hemisphere, at least.)
Think of summers when you were a kid (hopefully you have fond memories) — they were fun — beach trips, playing with friends, zero responsibilities, catching fireflies, making s’mores, telling scary stories around a campfire, staying out until the streetlights came on, the ultimate freedom.
Leo as an archetype embodies this joy. It’s the performer, the child, the person who embodies the free, heart-led spirit of mid-summer.
This sign is self-expression, creativity, performance, celebration of self. As the Sun rules this sign, there is a lot of overlap: the Sun shines, Leo expresses.
Leo’s evolutionary goal is to develop its sense of ego and personality.
The shadows of Leo are excess pride and an overinflated sense of ego.
What house does Leo occupy in your chart?
The Fifth House
The houses in astrology represent areas of life in which the motivations of the planets and the evolutionary goals of the signs are expressed.
The 5th house is the house of children, romance, hobbies, entrepreneurship, creative self-expression, pleasure, joy, casual sex, and entertainment.
Remember the summers-as-a-kid reference? That’s the fifth house. It’s where our soul is lit up and can’t stop talking about whatever that is.
Which sign occupies your fifth house?
House Rulership
Ok so this is where it gets interesting, I think:
even if you don’t have placements in Leo or the fifth house, you still have planets that rule them, therefore showing you how to work with that energy.
Whatever sign occupies your fifth house, that sign’s ruler would be the ruler of your fifth house.
I have Aries in my 5th house and Mars rules Aries, therefore my Scorpio Mars in the 12th house rules my fifth house.
Signs and their rulers:
♈ Aries — ♂ Mars (action, passion, ambition)
♉ Taurus — ♀ Venus (love, beauty, harmony)
♊ Gemini — ☿ Mercury (communication, writing, thinking)
♋ Cancer — ☽ Moon (emotion, intuition, subconscious)
♌ Leo — ☉Sun (leadership, authority, creativity)
♍ Virgo — ☿ Mercury (communication, writing, thinking)
♎ Libra — ♀ Venus (love, beauty, harmony)
♏ Scorpio — ♂ Mars (action, passion, ambition) & Pluto (intensity, manifestation, psychic power)
♐ Sagittarius — ♃ Jupiter (expansion, optimism, wisdom)
♑ Capricorn — ♄ Saturn (boundaries, hard work, rules)
♒ Aquarius — ♄ Saturn (boundaries, hard work, rules) & ♅ Uranus (rebellion, uniqueness, awakened)
♓ Pisces — ♃ Jupiter (expansion, optimism, wisdom) & ♆ Neptune (compassion, spirituality, boundaryless)
By the way, you can access your birth chart for free at astro-seek.com or astro.com. Make sure you set the house system to “Whole Signs” to keep it simple.
So find your Sun sign and house. Then find the house Leo occupies.
In the example below, I highlighted my Sun (the circle with the dot in the middle) and the glyph for Leo (the red girl with a ponytail).
Then, look to the house significations below and you’ll see how your Leo energy expresses.
House Significations
First House — Self, physique, identity, personality, outlook on life
Second House — Earned income, values, self-worth, resources
Third House — Communication, writing, publishing, local community, short journeys, vehicles
Fourth House — Home, roots, family, ancestry, traditions
Fifth House — Creativity, joy, pleasure, children, hobbies, love affairs
Sixth House — Work, health, daily routines, pets
Seventh House — Marriage, partnership, legal contracts, close friendship
Eighth House — Intimacy, shared finances, the occult, manifestation
Ninth House — Higher education, beliefs, long-distance travel, religion, direction in life
Tenth House — Profession, career, legacy, politics
Eleventh House — Group associations, clubs, ideals, friend groups, aspirations
Twelfth House — Dreams, subconscious, places of rest, institutions, sacrificial service
If you have your Sun in another sign, and/or you don’t have any placements in Leo, you would just fuse those two houses together. (The Sun rules Leo, therefore your Sun sign and house get fused with your Leo house and voila: that’s your Leo energy.)
For example: my Sun in Sagittarius rules (another word for it is ‘dispositor’) my Leo ninth house. This means that those energies fuse together.
In a sentence, that would be something like: my identity and purpose are to find understanding through lived experience and then teach others to find their own personal truth.
To find the ruler of your fifth house, just do the same thing: find your fifth house and the sign that occupies it, then find the ruler of that sign. That planet is the ruler of your fifth house and its sign and house fuse with it.
Before You Open the Records
Ok so now that you understand your chart a little bit better (hopefully!), you can now go into the Akashic Records to download its wisdom.
This is hands down the best way to understand your astrology; no one can give you information like the AR.
Before we begin it’s important to note a couple of things:
